Shell energy direct debit and energy estimates

I’m paying by direct debit and enter a meter reading at least every 2 months. The account is in £600 credit after last months estimated amount deducted.

They estimate that my bill will go up by three fold the amount of my current usage and want to set the direct debit accordingly even though my meter readings are not anywhere near that and I submit them regularly. When I reduce the direct debit amount it allows them to exempt me from checking my actual usage. This is unacceptable.

I do not want to move to a smart meter, I want them to go off the actual amounts I’m submitting and stop gouging me on the direct debits.

Any ideas on this?

I spoke to the billing team. Confirmed our situation and they reduced the direct debit by £240.
