Help could my marriage certificate be void and illegal, they made a mistake on it, put registrar instead of deputy

They sent a letter after saying return it and get a new one but we never got round to it
and now I’m worrying if I got divorced
could my wedding certificate actually be illegal

it was there mistake and it’s seem quite a mild one
that hey should have stated deputy registrar not registrar

If you’re worried just order a new one, most register offices let you do it online for a small fee.

I’m just worried I might go for a divorce at some Point and then find out I’m not legally married

amd so they didn’t relaly chase us up

How long ago? Just ask them now.

You will be legally married, but the record of it isn't accurate. That's all. Call them up and sort it today. Job done.

A mistake on the register doesn’t mean your marriage is invalid or anything, don’t worry about that

Should she pay to correct their mistake?

@BruceAndNosh she had the chance to rectify it for free once she was notified of the mistake but couldn't be bothered.

I think it should be fine OP. You are still legally married it's just an admin thing.

My cousin has just had to have his decree nisi reissued as his surname was misspelled on it. It didn’t void the original. I imagine yours would be the same.

Do you mean the person filling it in wrote they were a registrar but they were only a deputy registrar?

we know because they sent us a letter after asking us to take it back and change it after the honeymoon
but we didn’t they round to it
but didn’t get chased any further either
