Toys for 8+

Can anybody recommended or advise which toys are best for ages 8 and up? Local charity have asked for this age group as they are in particular need but I'm clueless as to what this age group need! For both boys are girls are required.

Board games
Nerf guns
Those handheld consoles which just have a couple of games on them (include batteries)
An art or craft kit (although if buying these for a charity Christmas collection, I always make sure that the kit includes all that is needed and doesn't get too big or messy)
