Losing your sense of taste is so weird.

I have covid. Again. Yey.

I cannot taste anything. I can feel it’s hot or cold, fizzy or flat but that’s it.

Bonus is I can take things like pungent cough medicines and not bother with the after taste but on the flip side, I have no appetite.

I feel empty, and my stomach feels hungry but my mouth doesn’t. I haven’t eaten anything in a week and I’m surviving on fresubin drinks.

Yes, it's weird isn't it? I made the hottest curry I've ever made with birds eye chillies and other strong spices and couldn't even taste that , just feel the intense heat. I found it became a bit depressing after a few days.

I lost my sense of smell, that was weird enough but I was relieved that I could taste! I can't imagine how odd that is.

I can’t smell anything either so it’s a real double blind.

I could taste around the very outside edge of my tongue but only very sweet or sour or salty. So I lived on chocolate digestive biscuits and very sweet toast with salty butter. Any of this an option for you?

Nope! I’ve been drinking very sugary tea to keep my energy up and apart from it being hot, I can’t taste it

I’m on week two of no taste or smell, and other than a bit of a cough, all other symptoms have gone. Mealtimes are so boring right now.

Well, one week later, I’m starting to feel better.

Still no sense of taste though I can smell strong scents.

I haven’t eaten anything in a week though. Just got no appetite for it which probably isn’t helping my weakness.
