Quirky Meeting Venues London

Knowledgeable Mumsnetters, I need help! We are having a management meeting in London in mid December - it's a small company, so about 6 people. My boss last had a management meeting in Copenhagen, where they hired a small barge. He wants something unusual (different from the usual meeting rooms) for this meeting in December, and I am so lost! I've looked at canal boat meeting rooms, but the ones I can find are hugely expensive because they are cater for 100s of people. Does anyone have any brilliant ideas? It doesn't have to be water related - just something unusual in which 6 people won't be swamped. Thank you for any help or ideas you can suggest.

Something at a historical venue/ standard meeting room but overlooking the Thames/Leicester Square.

Get a red routemaster bus to take you there?

The Museum of London have small meeting rooms for hire and I think they offer private tours as part of the package.

Thanks to both @Whataretheodds and @JorisBonson (Love your username, if not the man himself!) for these helpful suggestions.

I can recommend The Welcome Trust in Euston and The Hospital Club near Covent Garden. Both have at least one smaller room they hire out. Good luck!

There’s some gin distillery and wineries that have rooms they hire particularly in the day. My DH organised a staff meeting at our local brewery and it was free hire for the day!

Tower Bridge hires out their event space, depends on your budget though.

Not sure if they still hire rooms now that the building has been revamped, but the Design Museum (at the South end of Holland Park) is a nice space and the permanent exhibition is pretty cool.

Rooms that are London underground 30s-style above (and part of) Marylebone tube station, through TOG. Downsides: some of them can smell slightly of the burger kiosk on the forecourt! Not super distracting, but detectable.

But some of them are in v cool locations. Do you need more than table and chairs? Audio/visual, teleconferencing, whiteboards?

There's also meeting space in the Oxo tower overlooking the river but might be a bit big for your group

Ah, ok. I thought there might be something interesting in there. Or at least some nice views.

Practically every tourist attraction or interesting venue in London has private meeting spaces. The problem is that you're going to be competing with Christmas parties for more interesting venues.

Are you looking for some kind of activity or tour to do after the meeting?

SillyLittleBiscuit · 20/10/2022 13:10

HMS Belfast? I know they have some smaller rooms for hire.

oldestmumaintheworld · 20/10/2022 13:56

Temple Bar near St Paul's Cathedral has a beautiful meeting room for a small number. The British Academy in Carlton House Terrace is lovely.

Thank you to all of you for your really useful and helpful suggestions. I am really grateful.

When I worked for a large firm, we used to have a few quirky meeting places around the country. One was a hospitality suite at Lords (no match on, although there were a few practising), I understand it wasn't too expensive.
