Can something help me get my head around this please?

I've had £66 refund on my energy bill but I've also had £66 in my bank account from energy company. If they're giving the money back to me how is this helping to pay my bill??

Ours (Scottish power) is asking us to pay our normal direct debit amount and then paying the £66 into our bank account a week later.

I think it’s a bit of a weird way to do it, and I’d prefer the money off my bill personally, but the net result to me is the same.

They are doing the same with hundreds of thousands of people. Having £66 pounds x 100s of 10000 sitting in their account for a week (or more since they got the money at the beginning of October) is paying dividends for their shareholders (who clearly are far more important than their customers)

I'm with Octopus, they reduced my dd by £66 but I put it back up so I can build up some credit. DS is Ovo and they sent a payment to the bank.
