Outdoor cinema - what to take?

Hoping for some tips! My daughter and I are seeing a Halloween film at an outdoor cinema tomorrow. We have seats, but otherwise will be open to the elements. I’ll take a big golf brolly in case it rains, which it’s meant to.

can anyone think of anything else I should take?

Rugs to put over your knees, and maybe another for round your shoulders.
A thermos of hot chocolate
Popcorn
Hand warmers
Beanie hat
thermal socks

Check first if they’ll allow umbrellas - many outdoor venues don’t as they can obstruct the view of people behind you. See if you can find decent rain ponchos.

BIG flask of hot chocolate

Hoods and warm coats, rugs, wellies and warm socks, gloves.

are you sure you don’t want to delay? Sitting in the pissing rain watching a movie doesn’t sound fun to me.

We wore those massive ponchos you get on the log flumes; took brollies; little cans of G&Ts and snacks.

That was when we did a rainy one. We got lucky with a warm sunny one and the field was incredible - people brought camping tables and buffets and all sorts!

As PP said, some places don't allow brollies so check the website.
Other than that take snacks, thermos/drinks and wear many many layers. We took sleeping bags (to a summer one) because it got cold.

a hot water bottle

Following for tips. We are seeing the lost boys at an Abbey next week. Forecast looks awful :( Never occurred to to me that umbrellas may not be allowed.

Love outdoor cinemas. I always take a foldable chair with cupholder. Big umbrella incase it rains. Waterproof coat etc, take a big cooler with drinks and snacks and use the top of the cooler as a mini table. Hand sanitizer and tissue incase the toilets are the best.

A blanket and malteasers 🙂

MrsFionaCharming · 20/10/2022 11:59

Hooded sleeping bag, so you can watch the film looking like a giant, cosy caterpillar.

gogohmm · 20/10/2022 12:29

Our local place is no umbrellas because they block the people behind seeing. Take waterproof jackets and trousers if raining

SummerHouse · 20/10/2022 12:33

However much warm stuff you are taking, double it.

ComtesseDeSpair · 20/10/2022 12:36

However, remember that non-waterproof warm stuff becomes wet, cold stuff quite quickly in the rain! We made this mistake at the Hollywood Bowl in LA a few weeks ago, in practically LA’s only ever September torrential rain storm. Our jackets got soaked through and even on a California summer evening we were chilly by the end!

Along with the umbrella, bringing blankets or jackets for warmth is a good idea. Packing some comfy cushions or camping chairs could make seating more enjoyable too. Don't forget to pack a cooler with snacks and drinks to keep the movie night festive.
If you want to elevate the experience, you might consider exploring options from a rental LED display manufacturer. Their outdoor LED displays can enhance the visual experience and add a special touch to your movie night under the stars. Additionally, consider bringing along some themed decorations like pumpkins or string lights to create a festive atmosphere.
