Pre authorization on card

My card was charged a pre authorization last week. Upon check out - I paid the full bill and I was told that the pre authorization will come back into my account. It's been 4 working days since settling that bill and the pre authorization still isn't back in my account.

Should I wait it out or do I need to chase up on this?

I find it usually takes about 5 days.

I carry out pre-auths as part of my job. Our payment processor can take up to 7 working days to release it back to the card.

Qenhave this problem with the parking app on our town, it pre authorises the full daily charge. So if you are parking 5 days a week you can have £60 on your account waiting to be released each week.

@Viewofthesea 7 working days from when we tell the payment system to release the pre-auth. I believe pending payments also get released back in a similar timescale.

I made the payment ON Friday morning of the 14th of October to the holiday. Checked out on the Friday morning too.

So the remainder of Friday would have been considered a working day.

It's been 6 working days since my payment and the pre authorization still hasn't arrived back into my account. At the end of the day on Monday will be 7 working days since the payment.

Where do I start to get this back? Do I get onto the company to get the money back or do I start a chargeback with the bank. I will wait another few more days. I will wait til Wednesday and see where I am then. If it's back in the account yet or not.

How do I go about getting this money back? Do I contact the company or do I start a charge back with the bank?
