Anyone care to guess what size cups were used for these?...

Dd2 sent me the video off tik-tok, which I don't want to download (it'd just be something else to scroll!) & I've half got it in my head that hot chocolate stirrers would be easy and fun to do with my Guides in a Christmas theme.

I've been hunting for cups that look about the right size but everything so far seems a bit too big/round/not quite right. We'll have a test run beforehand with a variety of sizes if I can find them.

Any idea what I'm looking for?

Espresso cup?

SpaghettiSquash · 19/10/2022 20:45

Would little plastic shot glasses work? Tesco sells them.

I was about to suggest this. I reckon they'd be a perfect size.

PatriciaHolm · 19/10/2022 20:47

From the size of the fingers I would agree espresso.

lucysmam · 19/10/2022 20:52

Thank you, I have some plastic shot glasses lurking and will see if I can acquire a few espresso cups to try too.

Guide leader here too - does the video show how to get the chocolate out of the cup? If you use the plastic shot glasses you don't want to have to snap them off as the plastic shards are quite sharp and could get stuck in the chocolate....which I guess at least some of them may try eating before they head home.
Maybe chat to your local coffee shop and see if they'll give you some takeaway paper espresso cups

IncognitoBirthday · 19/10/2022 21:11

Large ice cube trays/moulds?

Swimbikerun · 19/10/2022 21:14

They look like little medicine pots, I bought some in a dollar store last time was in USA.

lucysmam · 19/10/2022 21:15

@LostMySocks they peel it off the chocolate, so I presume they're the ones that are waxy inside. One of our other leaders works at McDonald's so I've messaged to see if they might be nice enough to give me/us some for a test run 🤞

Dd did ask in the comments but it was a US store so no use to me 🙄

I'll try and link it from the text she sent but no idea what I'm doing 🤣

Ask Starbucks

wherearebeefandonioncrisps · 19/10/2022 21:32

What about those little paper cups that you use in MacDonalds to pour ketchup in.
They're very slightly waxed so should peel off easily.

I would imagine that they'd let you have loads if you tell them that it's for Guides.

lucysmam · 19/10/2022 21:44

We decided they might be too small but my friend's going to ask for some of those too (she's just replied that they have no lids for the espresso cups atm so they're likely to say yes...fingers crossed!)

I wondered about fromage frais pots too but I don't know anyone who eats them & there aren't enough children at work eating them from pots these days to collect enough for two or three each plus a test run.

Just use a silicone cupcake tray, that's what we're used. Popped right out on the spoons, no worries at all

olderthanyouthink · 19/10/2022 21:56

I think that's a 4oz cup

SD1978 · 19/10/2022 21:59

It looks like paper cups- Americans (some) have these in the bathroom for swilling post tooth washing- my mum brought a load back years ago. Might be able to get them on Amazon?

CleanHankie · 19/10/2022 22:28

I've done stirrers in plastic shot glasses before. Can't remember if we oiled the cups first but do remember dipping the set pots in hot water to loosen them before popping them out

Yep exactly, they're disposable bathroom cups. Plastic shot glasses would be too small but takeaway espresso cups would be perfect (although the silicone mould idea is probably easiest!).

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 19/10/2022 22:37

I’ve just gone on the video @lucysmam and the OP says that the full list is on her instagram if you have it - same name Dipped_Tampa.

Not hugely helpful but I looked it up.

That's what I was going to suggest. Mines was less than 2 quid from amazon
