BBC reporting Suella Braverman is leaving her role. Who now? Gove? Confused

These Tories fall like dominooooooeees

miceonabranch · 19/10/2022 16:59

When we wake up each morning none of us actually know who's in what role now 🤦‍♀️

Fucking unbelievable!

We need a general election. It's not an ideal time, but this government are not safe to be running the country. In fact, they're not running the country, they're just infighting.

BonesOfWhatYouBelieve · 19/10/2022 16:58

And that she has serious concerns about the direction of the government.

They're no longer far right enough for her? 🙄

uncomfortablydumb53 · 19/10/2022 17:01

Grant Shapps is her replacement

EndlessMagpies · 19/10/2022 17:01

miceonabranch · 19/10/2022 16:56

Sky News saying she was sharing confidential information over the phone which didn't have a secure line.

WHAT????

That is bad. She was Home Secretary for Christ's sake.

Hmmph · 19/10/2022 17:04

Paragraph 2 of her letter sounds somewhat of a dig at LT

Grant Shapps is her replacement

Does anyone else feel uncomfortable with the idea that she intentionally selected the most diverse cabinet ever and in less than 40 days has replaced two of those in the most senior positions with white men?

I feel like it's all been a game from the start for her.

I expect the tea lady will be Secretary of State for Justice by tomorrow afternoon 😄

TheMousePipes · 19/10/2022 17:07

I’m still available for a position in the cabinet. still wouldn’t have a clue what I’m doing but..
would it matter?

Nat6999 · 19/10/2022 17:07

As long as they don't bring Pritti Patel back

Croque · 19/10/2022 17:08

It is the same bunch of clowns playing musical chairs. You get new configurations but they never quite fully go away.

PAFMO · 19/10/2022 17:09

Blimeyheck HIGNFY is going to be good (again)
Seriously, how much longer than these people go on?

Perfectly qualified then 😄👍🏻

This government are like herpes. You can never get rid of them, they're painful and they keep popping up with a nasty surprise.

katmarie · 19/10/2022 17:14

From her resignation letter

'Pretending we haven't made mistakes, carrying on as if everyone can't see that we have made them, and hoping that things will magically come right is not serious politics....'

Subtle as a brick to Liz Truss's face!

I laughed. Quite a lot.

Rats and sinking ships come to mind.

Definitely sinking ship.

Taking the rats with them.

However it's also nice to see that a few MPs have also come out and said publicly they are not adhering to tonight's 3 line whip on fracking and will accept the consequences of that decision.

Rutland2022 · 19/10/2022 17:32

She did it on purpose, the letter says it all. No-one does that accidentally and goes straight to resignation, they would apologise for days and go after a week. She wanted to go.

Oooohhhhh Ian Hislop on this will be brilliant Halloween Grin

miceonabranch · 19/10/2022 17:35

Perhaps Braverman will be PM by next week.

She's been losing her predicted hold on our constituency daily the last few weeks.

This morning it turned and she's predicted to lose her seat to Labour. A seat the conservatives have held forever!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/10/2022 17:38

I forget who it was on PM on Radio 4 just now but he/she said it was a figleaf and nobody would ever normally resign for what she says she's done. Mild slap on the wrist at most. This was an excuse. The resignation letter pulls no punches.

@girlmom21 I am more uncomfortable with a very unpleasant man becoming Home Secretary.

Happy to job share with you.
I wouldn't have a clue what to do so we're safe on that one.
Not much time to spare either but I understand that disappearing for 1 week at a time is part of the role requirement.
We'll muddle through, others managed it.

Honestly I can't tell if I am coming or going at this rate. Are they playing a game of dice at No. 10? Just for amusement? To keep us interested? Is it a lucky dip? Draw from a hat?

Perhaps we'll all get a turn. Names pulled out of a hat. We could hardly do worse.
