Does anyone else moult (like a cat or dog) in Autumn?

I've noticed this for years, that I lose more hair in Autumn. It's really noticeable when I wash my hair. Also the skin on my hands and the soles of my feet peels, as if I'm shedding my summer skin 😂

Anyway I googled it and apparently seasonal hair loss is actually a thing in humans, but can't find anything about skin loss.

I find it fascinating, it's possibly an evolutionary trait, maybe in early humans it was a necessary thing?

I just wondered if anyone else has noticed they "moult" in Autumn? Or maybe you're all more evolved than me?!

I Moult all the time - I loose so much hair ( from my head - why is it never from anywhere useful?!) I’m amazed I’m not bald 🤣

Yes, I've noticed that I - & DD, 27 - are both moulting.. not noticed the skin thing, though, although am always slapping hand & foot cream on!

I recall being told this was normal by my hairdresser (many years ago) spring and autumn - but as she was prone to flights of fancy I took it with a pinch of salt. Not sure why you'd moult more in the autumn when you'd think, in theory, we'd want more hair on our head for winter.

Unless we grow more ready for winter so the older hairs make way for newer stronger growth. And then we have another moult in spring... I'm overthinking this.

When I googled it they said you might need more hair on your head in summer to protect you from UV light.

Makes you wonder how people with male pattern baldness got on pre- suncream and hats?! Maybe they died young before this was a problem 🙁

Yes!! And my hairdresser told me this too. Thought she might have been saying it to be kind last autumn but definitely losing more hair again now.

I have this. Always thought it was something to do with the reduction in vitamin D

No, never a seasonal moult!!! 😃

In only lost more head hair about 3mths after I started either a juice or keto diet. I didn't think I cut things too drastically, still had protein etc but still got the additional hair loss which lasted about a month.
