Eye drops for dry eyes?

I usually use Hycosan but they're so expensive - on the lookout for any recommendations that are a bit cheaper. Have never rated Optrex. Hoping for a good tip! Thanks in advance for any suggestions

I always suggest hypromellose. They're not the best but they are far and away the cheapest.

Pharmacist in boots told me all the eye drops on the shelves are basically just all lubricants whatever the boxes say. The over the counter optrex for has better active ingredients. Optrex for sore eyes over the counter, supposed to be for eye injuries but does a good job. DH had some for an injury and it's a lot better

I looked at the active ingredient, googled it and got these.

Try Viscotears

I looked at the active ingredient, googled it and got these.

That was for HydroSan Extra (red bottle) as advised by my optician to repair my tear layer/level.

Thank you all, especially for that Poirot-style investigation @Chasingsquirrels!

I get Thealoz Duo on prescription but you can get it over the counter.

As @Chasingsquirrels I found a cheaper brand (boots) with the same active ingredient (sodium hyaluronate) as the designer drops (Hylotears) recommended by my optician, and about £10 cheaper.

I second this. I was given it following eye surgery and buy it from Amazon.

Chasingsquirrels · 19/10/2022 07:22

Interestingly I brought that Amazon one about 2 weeks ago for £6.16 and its not £7.67.

Still massively cheaper than the Hydrosan.

Amazon, 2 x 15ml = £7.67
Hydrosan, 1 x 7.5ml = £10+

I use theoz duo. I didn't know it was available on prescription.
