I thought I'd start a thread for anyone else who has a child starting reception next September. What's everyone's situation? Are you doing the rounds of school open days and tours at the moment like we are?
My son has just turned 4 so will be one of the oldest when he starts school. In his case, I don't think that means much at all as he's being assessed for adhd and has a lot of behavioural difficulties. So we're really looking at the best school that will support this but it's so hard choosing! I'm also a primary school teacher which is kind of a blessing and a curse when looking at schools. Mostly because I can see through the bullshit and fakery some schools try to sell.
We saw a school we really liked today but we're just outside of the catchment. Is anyone else going to be applying for an out of catchment school as their first choice?
I think my ds will struggle with some aspects of school (like sitting for more than 1 min!) but I hope the structure and routine will help him.
It really does feel like a big decision as a parent. I never thought it would be this stressful.
How's everyone else feeling?
