Clever place to go on inset day

Hi, my DCs school is taking an inset day on a random day next spring when all other schools in the country won't be off. Where would be a good place to go to take advantage of it being quiet? Not Legoland as we went there recently. Somewhere that is usually very busy or expensive in school holidays and weekends. DCs are 5 and 8.

Disneyland Paris? Check French school holidays first but Eurostar after school on Thursday so that you have all day Friday a bit quieter?
Or just Eurostar in general to open up France/Belgium/Holland

I would be wary of a popular theme park if its the summer term, as alot of schools go on mass for a day out. What about something like Birmingham for cadbury world, lego centre, Eureka museum plus a canal trip? What are your children into? someone mentioned the Shrek experience, mine loved it when younger.

I forgot the National Railway museum in York too - pretty impressive even if you are not that into trains.

Rather than Bath for small children I'd probably do Bristol - they have the aquarium, We the Curious and the SS Great Britain and the Wild Place project.

York would be great.

Or Warwick Castle & Stratford.
