Which tells you everything you need to know about Tory party members.

Plus loads of them voted for Truss simply because they didn’t like that Rishi moved against Boris, not because of the objective merits of her and her plan.

We are all suffering because of their pathetic navel gazing squabbling over the cult of Boris, a proven liar

lannistunut · 18/10/2022 14:03

I suspect he would also top a members' poll of who shouldn't replace Truss. He has diehard supporters but is very divisive.

Basically we need a general election.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 18/10/2022 14:08

Says everything you need to know about Tory members. They are only supportive of liars or incompetent fools.

Somoen (perhaps on MN) pointed out during the leadership race that Truss was BJ's preferred candidate and that this was not a good sign. I thought at the time that this was very true- BJ is all about Boris and never about the country, so if he was supporting Truss it would end up being about him in some way.

I now have no doubt that his farewell speech where he referred to whichever roman general it was who was begged to return was actually him telling us exactly what he planned. Because he knew Truss would be a shocker. And people (the media) just shrugged it off.

anyway, whatever the case. Truss is a great deal worse than I ever imagined anyone could be. And that includes Boris.

MarshaBradyo · 18/10/2022 14:21

I don’t think it’s that surprising as many of them would have voted for Johnson initially who then led them to 80 seat majority.

Imo the membership will have a different view to general electorate

I'm not surprised Tory MPs want to take the selection of a new leader away from the Party members. Electing Truss simply because she wasn't Sunak smacks of racism and hatred of Sunak for ditching Johnson. She was a very bad choice and we can are all going to pay for a long time for her reckless attitude to the economy in my opinion. The Tories must get rid of her to retain any credibility with the public.

That's because they are the embodiment of swivelled eyed loons ... live in the Home Counties in a large house with 5 beds of which they occupy 1 and 'keep the others for family to visit' ...have LARGE final salary pensions and kids that ALL went to public school and are 'something' in the 'city'

Literally NO understanding of real life. .. THATS WHO IS VOTING FOR THE LEADER OF THIS COUNTRY....

None of them have to worry about :
Mortgage/Rent increased
Electricity bill
Gas bill
Oil bill
Phone bill
Commute cost (they ALL WFH these days)
Car cost
Petrol
Food

They are guarded against ALL of this..

Did you know for example that AlLL MINISTERS have a pension FOR LIFE !!

So Kwasi Kwatangs tenure of 4 weeks leaves him with a Pension for life !!

God it's like sitting on the perineum of governance.
