Israel advice?

DH and I are going to Israel for a week in a few days time, splitting our time between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. DH has planned the trip as we are going to visit his friend out there. I have been very busy at work recently and haven't thought about it all ... now feeling excited but also slightly panicked that I don't have much of an idea of what to do out there.

Money, hotels and transport are all sorted by the much more organised DH but any advice/must-sees / must-dos / must-eats? We are not particularly religious but both enjoy history and art, also both massive foodies. I have long skirts and t-shirts but worrying after looking online that I should have long-sleeved tops as well? Also slightly worried about safety having read and re-read gov UK advice!

you on,y really need to cover up if you’re in religious areas e.g. East Jerusalem, Mea Shearim. Tel Aviv is like being in a fRench speaking area of California IME and food is excellent. Be prepared for religious sites to be very busy, Dead Sea is quite a fun day trip.

Thanks for the advice JWR. I'm definitely excited for the food!

Be aware that everything shuts down on Friday afternoon-Saturday evening so make sure you have food and aren’t too far from your hotel if you’re in Jerusalem then. Tel Aviv is not so strict but I think there may be no public transport Friday/Saturday. It may be warm enough to go to the beach, which is lovely. Food is amazing also.
