Found two in the kitchens and one in the bedroom just now as I was cleaning. I am really creeped out, any ideas?

Carpet beetle

They look like woolly bears maybe ? Carpet beetles. Are they as furry as they look there ?

BigWoollyJumpers · 18/10/2022 09:56

It's just a carpet beetle aka Wooly Bear. They come out at this time of year. Hoover him up.

Podcastrex · 18/10/2022 09:56

No not furry, more wormy. Is having carpet beetles bad? Can you also have them when you don't have carpet anywhere in the house?

It's a carpet beetle larvae, you might also see small black beetles at night. I ordered a spray from Amazon & it got rid our ours a few weeks back.

Thanks for the spray idea.

"They come out at this time of year" - thanks @BigWoollyJumpers that's instantly made me feel at ease as it makes it sound normal and no big deal. I was starting to feel like I don't clean my house well enough or something. I have hovered them up.
The first 2 were dead but the last one was wriggling and there is just something about the way they move that really creeps me out. And the fact it was in my bedroom too, just so much worse.

We also had in kitchen, no carpet

MrJi · 18/10/2022 10:01

They are just a little beetle. If you don’t have carpet they will eat other woolly things like jumpers.
Better to live with the odd beetle than to use very toxic insecticides though .

They particularly like DD's sheepskin rug! I always give it an extra special hoover around this time of year.
