What childcare?

I have decided my relationship is over and best for everyone we separate. I haven’t spoke to DP yet as I don’t anticipate it being an easy conversation, so I’ll tell him once I’m actually going. Currently trying to get my ducks in order.
Anyway, getting to the point. I have 2 DC, one who will be starting school next year and one younger. Currently the oldest is in nursery and when we leave will need to start a new nursery. It will be a state nursery attached to the school they will go to (Scotland if it’s relevant- don’t know if England is the same). So my predicament is nursery will start at 9am no flexibility and I need to be at work for 9am, again no flexibility. How do I make this work in my own?

Childminder to take DC to nursery

RebeccaRose92 · 18/10/2022 09:56

In fact why your STBX take them once you’ve split? It’s not all of your responsibility. Just say you’ll do pick ups.

Does it have to be the school nursery they go to? Can you not just continue to use your free hours at a private nursery, as the hours there are much more flexible and better suited to working parents I think.

But yes otherwise a childminder or negotiate with your stb ex-partner if he's got more flexibility.

Would a childminder likely take that on? For all for about an hour before nursery and perhaps an hour after? Though I think I would look for a childminder for DC2 while I work.
STBX couldn’t do it as we currently live in his hometown; I’d be moving back to mine. At that time in the morning it can be an hour in traffic, it’s not really feasible.

Yes that’s exactly what childminders do ie school pick ups and drop offs
