Built in coffee machine - boring question if anyone has a minute!

My dad very kindly bought me a (second hand) Miele coffee machine. It's a bean to cup, and built into a cabinet.

Naturally, it has stopped working, and trouble-shooting doesn't seem to be telling me what's wrong so I called the helpline today.

The bloody thing is SIXTEEN YEARS OLD! No wonder dad thought he'd got a steal! New ones are in the region of £3000, although the cheapest in another brand is about £900.

The amount for a technician to come and fix it (labour and parts and warranty) is £299. That's a lot, but not insurmountable. However, if it can't be fixed, then we lose the £299 or can use it towards another Miele product.

My question is - does anyone have any experience with Miele products? Is it likely it'll be able to be fixed? Or is it not worth paying for it? It's not urgent and I'd probably need to save up anyway as Christmas is round the corner, but it's just enough that it's giving me pause before paying up!

TL;DR - is it worth paying for a Miele technician on a 16 year old item?

Thanks in advance for anyone who got that far!
