Teeth whitening

Help! Is there ANYTHING you can buy that actually whitens teeth? mine are stained from years of Diet Coke and bad genes and I feel like I've tried everything - nothing so far has done bloody anything to my teeth.

  • crest strips
  • hi smile
  • whitened at dentist
  • elixir toothpaste
  • charcoal toothpaste
  • bleaching pens
  • any toothpaste at the supermarket that promises to whiten!

I am desperate but am beginning to think it's an impossible ask

I bought whitening gel from the dentist and got my teeth mould. Use it a few hours each evening until desired whiteness. Definitely works I see a difference after 1 week.

There's a laser type of whitening you can get too.

JustFrustrated · 17/10/2022 21:15

Nope. Ultimately.

Firstly you need a good scale and polish from your dentist.

Then a bicarb based/exfoliant toothpaste such as Eucryl for smokers.

Then the only bleaching system that really works is the dentist one.

If it’s staining opposed to the actual colour of your teeth then your dentist should be able to do an air flow treatment for about £70.

@KidneyStone Looks like something I need...how long did you wait for delivery?

If your enamel is actually discoloured, as opposed to just stained, then the only thing that will change the colour will be veneers or crowns.

Sorry.

Unfortunately, this.

Whitening is pretty much removing stains. If your teeth are naturally yellow or the enamel is damaged/discoloured, then toothpastes and gel are unlikely to work.

Best saving your money and put towards veneers if they really bother you.

I rushed to buy some of the charcoal stuff because of that very comment on that thread. It didn't do anything.

Watching to see with interest if anyone else who bought at the same time rushes to say how good it is.

HairyKnobsAndBroomsticks · 21/10/2022 19:12

Eucryl powder is very good £1.40 in Superdrug.

HairyKnobsAndBroomsticks · 21/10/2022 19:14

You talking about this cleopatra charcoal? I bought it and it whitened my teeth.Your's probably got some natural yellow colour which coconut charcoal can't change. Its only for stain removing as far as I know. I used it daily first 2 weeks and I'm satisfied with the results, maybe because I drink a lot of coffee so my teeth got yellow becouse of it?

Definitely agree, but if you have stains, these are good and cheaper alternatives

Speedweed · 21/10/2022 19:49

The picture in the original post isn't stained, just yellowed, so apparently the Cleopatra stuff works, according to the second pic. Except it doesn't really do anything - I don't have strained teeth.

As someone else said, it's veneers and bleaching rather than pastes and powders which do anything...save your money!

I just said it worked for me, not gonna agrue with you :)
Also, bunch of reviews on their website...
But whatever...

Halstead · 21/10/2022 20:16

I've tried the Cleopatra charcoal stuff.

Useless. Don't waste your money.

AllBlocChain · 21/10/2022 20:19

I paid for whitening though my dentist. It worked and reversed years of tea and smoking.

I Also gave up tea and smoking!

Sorry.

Not necessarily the case.

One of my front teeth was going brown. Dentist suggested trying to whiten it before considering a veneer and the whitening worked. Every few years I need to reapply by the whitening formula to the tooth.

OP, find a good dentist snd seek advice

Me too when it comes to smoking, but simply can't give up tea!

Cleopatra natural powder worked for me as well. 15 days between these two images.
