Can I watch something on Sky without my husband seeing?

Husband is going away next week. There's a show on Sky Atlantic which isn't something either of us would normally watch but I've been reading on Twitter about the raunchy scenes with an actor that I have a huge crush on 😳

Can I avoid DH seeing that I've watched it and taking the piss mercilessly regarding my viewing choices? Does Sky keep a record of your watching history?

Just delete it after watching

KeithLeMonde · 17/10/2022 08:29

Sorry to be dim, delete what? Is there a history or something?

Delete the programme after watching it,don't you do that now anyway when you've finished watching something?

ZeroFuchsGiven · 17/10/2022 08:31

Why would you need to hide it though?

threegoodthings · 17/10/2022 08:33

This seems quite a sad position to be in

year3k · 17/10/2022 08:33

What's the film? 👀

MrsMontyD · 17/10/2022 08:34

Yeah, just delete it, and then if you think he'll look at the deleted history and you have SKYQ you can go into manage on the recordings menu and delete your deleted shows.

If you watch the programme on demand, it downloads it to the planner on your box. If you watch that way, just go to the planner when you’re done and delete it from the list. Make sure also that you delete any series link - they are sometimes auto-created if you watch one or more of a series, so that you don’t miss the rest of the series.

If you watch it live when broadcast, it’s not recorded at all.

But so what if you watch something you wouldn’t usually? I’d be having a think about why you’d be concerned about your DH knowing that you have different viewing tastes.

Bumply · 17/10/2022 08:35

Does sky have different user profiles?
You could create a new profile for watching this and then delete it afterwards.
Although I'm hoping this isn't down to him being controlling and more you not wanting any banter from him on the subject

LeopardLife · 17/10/2022 08:36

I don’t understand why you need to keep it a secret? Would he be angry?

You need to download the show. After that it appears in your “recordings” but there is an option to delete it so that it doesn’t show in that section

Georgeskitchen · 17/10/2022 08:41

If it's just on normal TV schedule it wouldn't record at least I don't think so. Never given it any thought. The only comment my DP ever makes is what rubbish are you watching tonight 😅 why don't you want yoir DP to know?

BowiesJumper · 17/10/2022 08:41

Have you not had sky long?

Also delete it from the recently deleted if he’s likely to look there though (no idea why he would!).

user53852098 · 17/10/2022 08:42

What is it, I might want to watch it myself, luckily DH couldn't care less what I watch. Just delete it after viewing and delete the deleted stuff

Tootels · 17/10/2022 08:42

I've not watched live tv for years but I guess the op will be so won't need to record?

AlwaysFoldingWashing · 17/10/2022 08:47

If you have sky glass you won't need to download it, you can just search for it and watch it but delete it afterwards from your playlist

KeithLeMonde · 17/10/2022 08:48

Noooo he wouldn't be angry at all 😂 I'm just a bit embarrassed to be caught watching sexy shows with my fave while DH is away.

I'd just rather have my little moment if I can - I'm easily embarrassed tbh

Thank you all for the Sky advice, I will investigate. We've had it for ages, I don't watch it much. I know if one of us has been watching something, it comes up on the landing page as "Continue Watching" or similar

IrmaGord · 17/10/2022 09:10

What's the show? I'm intrigued

SallyWD · 17/10/2022 09:17

You really need to tell us what the show is and who the actor is!

balalake · 17/10/2022 09:18

Do you really want to watch badly scripted sex scenes on Sky or any other tv viewing?

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 17/10/2022 09:23

You.may get something else come up as recommended based on what you have viewed. That bit would name the programme you had watched. Seems to be based on downloaded/series linked shows. Also if you view the most recent programme it sometimes sets a series link up in scheduled programmes

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 17/10/2022 09:28

What's the programme?!

What’s it to you? People can do what they want.

BlueSiamese · 17/10/2022 09:33

Delete it after watching, then delete it from the deleted list.
Download the program you want to watch.
Go to /select Recordings
On the left side there are options, choose Manage .
Once you have selected manage there are three options choose Deleted
And lastly get on the program you wish to delete and then delete it forever.

I don't know if sky send recommendations like Netflix though.
