Anyone been on steroids after covid?

I had covid 2 weeks ago. Had trouble breathing, I have asthma and I've been put on steroid tablets and antibiotics. Just wondering if this will sort me out or is likely to linger? I've had all my vaccines.

Yes I had steroids (prednisolone I think?) They really helped calm it down but I did cough and wheeze for a long time! It does go though, hang on in there!

Thank you! As I'd had all my jabs I didn't expect to get so ill!

Oh yes I'm on those ones top. Was one course enough?

Ds is an unstable asthmatic and had 6 days for steroids post covid which helped him

Relocatiorelocation · 16/10/2022 19:09

Yes I had a 5 day course, it did help, although I'd still not say I'm 100%

Canthinkofaname79 · 16/10/2022 19:19

How long ago did you have them?

I’m asthmatic and I had 2 courses of steroids when I hit covid ( was vaccinated as well) I just like to think it was still much less of a covid impact than it would have been

I've just been prescribed prednisolone for my wheezing and coughing after having covid for the first time 3 weeks ago. I've also got a chest x-ray booked next week. Hoping it will clear up and be back to normal after the steroids.

Canthinkofaname79 · 16/10/2022 21:02

Hope you feel better soon.

@Canthinkofaname79 you too

I had a 5 day course, the asthma nurse told me it would take 3 months to be back to normal but don't panic as for me that meant that the cough lasted 2 months and the wheeze lasted all 3 months but neither were too bothersome after the first month. That first month was pretty bad and I had to take the blue inhaler several times a day! I hope you feel better very soon, everyone is different so don't panic!

Thank you I'm not feeling great tonight. I actually don't think I necessarily use my inhalers correctly. I'm going to try and call Dr again tomorrow and see if I can get an appointment with an asthma nurse.
It's a scary feeling which I've never had before.
