Brent Cross shopping centre

Hi all
does anyone know this shopping centre?

I will be taking my elderly mum. as far as I can see it's in two sections. Is it easy enough to walk from one to the other?

she is 83 and quite wobbly and I'm not sure it's a great idea but she wants to go to actual shops for shoes and coat. This seemed the best option as she won't be cold, the shops she likes are there etc

thank you.

It's all one shopping centre, two levels of shops and a third of restaurants etc with car parks on each side.

There’s Brent Cross shopping centre Then there’s a small retail park that has some other shops like next (but is mainly sofa shops now!). It’s an 8min walk according to Google but it’s over a bridge and across an A road, if your mum is wobbly then I wouldn’t go from the main shopping centre to there unless you drive over

The main shopping centre itself has a pretty good selection of stores

EmmaH2022 · 16/10/2022 13:26

Thanks so much

Next was on her list...oh dear. That's going to be a pain if the attached bit is visible from the main bit. Glad I checked. Thank you!

There is a Next in the shopping centre itself as well.

geraniumthefirst · 16/10/2022 13:38

Oh actually, maybe there isn't, haven't been for a while!!!

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 16/10/2022 13:42

There’s no next in the main bit. here’s the list of shops in the main bit

it’s not visible from the main shopping centre itself but depending on where you enter from on bus/Car then you would maybe see it

My tablet isn't working properly today and that's one website that won't load but for some reason your link has worked - you are a gem!

I can practically bet money on her not liking anything but now I see there is a White Company, I might get summat for myself!

thanks for the help.

It was very busy yesterday so if your mum is a bit wobbly on her feet, you might want to stay close for support. When we tried to get out of one shop, I was practically mowed down by people not looking where they were going(I was) to the point DS said it was almost like pulling onto a motorway.

Littleredbrickmammy · 16/10/2022 13:58

Are you driving? You can easily drive between Brent Cross and the retail park across the road. The walk isn’t very pleasant to get and isn’t covered. It’s a bridge that goes over the motorway. I don’t think any of the buses stop at both. There’s TK Maxx and Next there which the main shopping centre doesn’t have.

EmmaH2022 · 16/10/2022 14:01

Glitter don't worry, I make mummy stay close by!

we aren't driving, we'll get a bus there and taxi back if she buys anything - or even if not because she'll be tired - so the adjacent place with Next is completely out.

Would Westfields shepherds bush work for you? They have a next

DramaAlpaca · 16/10/2022 14:50

It's a while ago now, but when I took my wobbly elderly MIL there we hired a wheelchair from customer services. MIL didn't normally use one but was happy to as it meant we could do more. We had a really nice day, in fact.

FinallyHere · 16/10/2022 16:24

They will also have mobility scooters available for loans. DH refuses to be pushed in a wheelchair but is prepared to 'scoot around'

EmmaH2022 · 16/10/2022 17:54

Mum couldn't scoot but she'll never use a wheelchair! We've missed a few garden possibilities as she just won't do that.

Brent Cross is the nearest option. Let's just hope mum finds some stuff. She went down the road of "not buying any new stuff because I'll be dead soon" about six years ago.

Wouldn’t ever walk across. Would drive to Next first. You can park immediately in front. Then drive the 2-3 mins to the main centre where all the other shops and food are, so you won’t need to leave the main building till your leaving. Plenty of lifts and escalators in main centre areas and larger stores like M&S, John Lewis and Fenwick.

CoralMist · 16/10/2022 18:16

Sorry just seen your not driving! so agree would rule out Next. Maybe you could order some items from there for her to try on at home and return what she doesn’t like, if you don’t find something during your trip.
