Toddler fever for 6 days

DD (3) has had a high temperature since Monday evening, it's ranged between 37.8 and 39.9 but even with regular calpol and nurofen has not dropped below 37.8 all week.
She had a cold, cough and generally a bit out of sorts (has barely ate all week and drinking is having to be really encouraged).
On Thursday we saw the gp who checked ears, throat, chest etc and said all was clear, likely just viral, so just to carry on with calpol and nurofen alternated which we have done but I'm concerned that her temperature is still very high.
Has anyone had the same? Is this normal for a viral infection? She's had similar before but it only usually lasts 2-3 days max, even with covid she wasn't this ill.

does she have any symptoms of kawasaki? red lips/tongue, etc

doittwice · 16/10/2022 01:35

My little one had covid twice and the second covid just recently presented itself with 6 days of fever and nothing compared to the first covid we had last year.

Thanks for your replies.
@bishbashboosh1 no she doesn't have any symptoms of this.
@doittwice I have tested her for covid twice now just incase it was that but both negative.

If I was in this situation I would contact out of hours/ GP for advice if no improvement today. did they do a urine test?
hope little one improves soon and that you’re okay, nothing worse than poorly children x

Thankfully she woke up with a normal temp this morning and it's stayed that way all day, she's been a lot brighter and has ate one full meal today which is more than she has all week so I'm quite happy with that.
I was ready to phone out of hours today if there had been no improvement but so glad there has been.
