..looked after two grandsons. One is 11 and the other is 4.
I made breakfast and washed up and cleaned the kitchen and vacuumed everywhere.
I took out the rubbish
I did some washing and changed a bed and tidied upstairs
I drove the eldest back home to pick up his PlayStation
We went out with the dogs and played football in the park
We had hot chocolate in the café
We came home and I fed them
I washed up again
We went out to deliver a firestick to a friend
We came home and swept the front step and put Halloween lights out
I bathed and bedded the little one
The older one is on his PlayStation
I am sitting with a glass of wine
I am quite proud of my old (ish) self this evening. I could have stayed in bed this morning and I could have watched TV this evening. There is plenty of time for doing nothing when I am dead.
Today was a reminder of what I used to do when mine were younger only I probably did a whole lot more besides and I worked full time.

Tomorrow, however when they have been collected by parents it will b a different story. I will be going back to bed and having a lie in and then I will do as much or as little as I want and I will not feel an ounce of guilt.

..Raises glass to all grandparents who have worked all of their lives and deserve me time:) In fact raises a glass to all this evening 😌

You've just made me tear up a bit! My mum has always been an amazing Nana to my DC from the moment they were born, and even though they're teenagers now, they still absolutely adore her because she put so much time & love in when they were little. They don't quite need her to look after them now in the way they did when they were little, but this morning 14yo DD popped round to hers for a few hours for cake & a chat - because she wanted to, and it was arrnged in advance, so my DM could decide if she wanted to give up her Saturday morning or not. She decided she did!

You are giving them a wonderful addition to their childhood, and building the foundations for a strong relationship for the future. Enjoy your wine, enjoy your lie in, and enjoy the me time you deserve! Flowers

Thank you. May I just add that grandparents have lived a life and know a lot of things :)
