Am I really so out of touch?

Talking to a man last night, he said affairs are so old fashioned and cheating is cool these days and laughed his head off when I said it's disrespectful. We're both early 50s so not even young and hip! I haven't dated for a long time mind, maybe times have changed.

What?

Affairs are old fashioned but also cool?

How does that work?

I am sure cheaters surround themselves with people who think cheating is cool.

No this isn’t my experience. Not what my dd who is an adult and her friends think either.

Was this a potential date? At least you know to avoid him like the plague now.

What's the difference between an affair and cheating? Thought they were the same?

He meant calling it an affair is old fashioned

No it’s not.

Basically, at some point he will cheat and tell you, you are old fashioned for being bothered.

I am going to guess he is a bloke that won’t admit to wanting an open relationship but basically shags around. He won’t his partner sleeping with others, but will shag around, himself and tries to embarrass women into accepting it as ‘cool’.

He can’t actually be talking about a proper open relationship. Because that’s not an affair or cheating. And it’s not cool or old fashioned. It’s a preference.

I think cheating could be a one off thing but affair is more prolonged and deliberate, from my understanding anyway

He sounds like an idiot. That would give me the ick. Are you dating?

I see your point. Cheating may not always be an affair.

But it’s not completely different because an affair is always cheating. If you see what I mean.
