Do I need different nappies? Keep breaking at night

Hi, my 2.3 yo is a big boy, top percentile, and is still in nappies. (Planning on potty training soon but expect him to be in night time nappies for a while yet).

Recently in the mornings his nappies have been broken- one side fastening snapped. He's had a funny tummy last week as well so additionally we've had a very messy clean up job to deal with. Confused I'm not sure if he's been fiddling with his nappy when he wakes up or if he is just getting too big? They seem to fit but not sure what the reason is they keep breaking at the fastening. He wears a vest with poppers and a all in one plus sleeping bag in bed.

Should I try moving up nappy size? Not sure if you can get a larger size than 5? Or should we switch brands or even pull up type ones?

Does anyone know?

He currently uses size 5 Naty which have always been great. I would like to try to keep using biodegradable / bamboo ones if possible.

My almost 10 monrh old is in size 5! How about nappy pants? They are easier to change standing up too! Yes nappies go up larger than a 5. Might have to change brands though

Hi, my son is a similar age and in size 7. It may be the nappies are too tight so are breaking. I know size 7 is available in some brands but not sure about the biodegradable ones. You may be able to find some online. Good luck

I'm not surprised they are breaking if he's still in size 5! You can get 6, 6+ and 7 in the supermarket.

How far do the tabs end up on the nappy? It sounds to me they could be a little bit too small for him now. I believe you can get a 6 in the Bambo nappies. If you need bigger I would look at Pampers. DD who is 4 wears a size 7 at night and still had plenty of space to grow into

My 2.5 yo has been wearing size 6 for ages now and he is slim/average size so I definitely would recommend sizing up! We have used nappy pants at night for maybe a year now because he kept leaking out of the waistband as he sleeps curled up on his tummy, so needed something that would be more flexible

Nappy pants all the way. My 2 year old is in size 4 pampers actifit ones- they’re flexible so stretch when he wriggles round

My 13 month old is in a 5+.

Get him a bigger size or pull ups.

Sorry but have they changed the nappy sizes, my dd was in size 4 at age 4 when she finally potty trained (autistic so yes late) we used pull ups though from 3

Was she particularly dainty?
My son has autism and severe learning disabilities, he wasn't toilet trained untill he was 9 ,he's 12 now he was in size six nappies at five untill he got them on the NHS, nappies do generally go up to size six and seven now although it was hard to get hold of size sevens when we needed them.

?? Toddlers are different builds you know. My skinny 2.2 yr old is in size 4 naty - we tried the 5s but they were too baggy. I'd go with pull ups, as it could be he's fiddling with the nappy in his sleep/ a half awake state, and the elasticated sides of pulls up allow for that flex. Naty do them - they're good

At age 2 kids are better off in pull ups not nappies
pull ups are the same As nappies just that they go on as pants and don’t come off
