Question about Frasier...

I've seen some repeats of Frasier recently and was reminded how different Frasier and Niles are from their dad, in terms of their interests. Was it ever really explained how/why this was the case?

That they took after their mother?

lottiegarbanzo · 14/10/2022 23:29

Yes. They took after their mother. Mentioned quite often I think.

Ah, I've only seen a few episodes (recently) but makes sense. After not seeing it for many years I've forgotten a lot.

Yes, they took after their mother, Hester (a psychiatrist).

Has to be one of the most irritating shows ever made, and my dp loves it. It shits on my peaceful weekend morning lie in constantly when he insists on putting it on😡

I'm getting into it again but I guess it would be irritating to some people.

The back story was that their mother was an educated wealthy socialite who married a police officer, and Frasier and Niles were privately educated and lived a privileged life that their mother paid for.

👍 They must have been an odd couple.

There's one specific episode ("Fathers and Sons", Series/Season 10 Episode 22 - I'm in the US and this happened to be on one of the perpetual rerun channels last night) that deals with Martin's fear that he may not be Frasier's and Miles's biodad. It gets resolved.

wackamole · 14/10/2022 23:40

Sorry, NILES, not Miles.

KimberleyClark · 14/10/2022 23:40

I remember that they met when Hester was a police psychiatrist attending a murder and together they drew a face on the chalk outline of the body.

@wackamole 👍 We have those channels here too 😂
