AIBU to be upset by ex brother in laws speech at funeral. He proceeded to totally humiliate me in front of 150 plus people in the church. A brief history, husband and I separated and divorced after 27 years of marriage, we have 3 children together and the divorce was totally amicable and we remained on good terms. My ex remarried and I was pleased for him and I have a new partner, this all happened 16 years ago. My ex brotherinlaw did his speech and said my ex met his new wife 2 years after our divorce when in fact he met her while we were still together, he made out he was devastated by our divorce which was also not true we had just grown apart after marrying very young at 20 years old.

I've no experience of this to relate to, in terms of offering a perspective but I just wanted to stop say that I'm sorry you're going through this - it sounds really tough x

I’m sure he didn’t do it to humiliate you. His brother has just died. It’s really tough writing a eulogy. I’ve just done it for my dad.

You can honestly never know how a relationship breakdown is affecting an ex partner. My husband wept with his head on my mum's knee and was saying I was the love of his life! I moved out of the marital home to get peace for self and kids. What was he doing 2 nights later? Entertaining his girlfriend at the marital home.
You need just to let this go now. It's over. The man is deceased. I don't actually see how you were humiliated to be honest.
