Dm and Xmas day invite

I invited my dm to come for Xmas day.

Historically she's come to mine as my exh would pick her up and I'd drop her back (and not drink). My db offered every year but she'd always refuse as she'd have to get a taxi back from his.

This year I've offered to collect her but she'd have to get a taxi home. (I've moved, no exh now, I'm further than my db's)
She's said no to my invite as the taxi home from db's house is cheaper than the one from my house.

She hates spending money on taxis but will buy bags and clothes etc. She has enough money that she's comfortable.

Am I wrong to feel a bit narked/used?

Extend the invitation with an rsvp date and leave it there. She can make her own arrangements.

After that, don’t take any shit.

Could she not stay over for xmas night?

ZeroFuchsGiven · 14/10/2022 13:22

Butt no you are not wrong to feel narked.

Feel used as in she only used to go to your house because it was the easiest and cheapest option?

She could but she smokes and I won't let her smoke in the house. She'd also want her own bed due to a bad back.

Will you enjoy not hosting this year?

MrsMontyD · 14/10/2022 15:06

I'd be annoyed, she should be embarrassed but I'm assuming she's so self centred she's not aware of how rude that is.

Is enjoy having one less person to cater for and not having to go out on Christmas Day to pick her up. Good luck to your DB.

Xmas day here is only small so it's not a big deal to host her.
I can't say anything or she'll huff and tell me I'm wrong, then ignore me.
Thanks for confirming I'm not loosing the plot!

Does she think your car runs for free?

Cannon abide none drivers that won't fund their own travel.

Yep she expects friends to run her around. Never offer a coffee as recompose for petrol. I never ask but it'd be nice ever now and then. We always go 50/50 on meals if I take her out.
