NHS pensions - are they safe ?

I am about to complete the form applying for flexi retirement in the NHS. Hope to claim my pension in the next 3 months and then work 17 hours a week afterwards. Will recent estimations of what I am due to receive still stand in view of the economic turbulence ? TIA
