Has anyone been to Mauritius? Is east or west better?

Just about to book, just me and two teens (12 and 15) and I’m paralysed with indecision

has anyone been? Is east or west coast better?

Oooh I forgot to say , we saw two lion fish off the jetty tonight so that was pretty cool and no snorkel needed lol

Shylo, hire a car for the day and go into the Black River Gorge National Park. The road up to the park from Casa Noyale to Chamarel is fantastic, the National Park area with its viewpoints is spectacular, visit Ganga Talao, the temple at Grand Bassin and walk up to the little Hanuman temple on the hill top above the lake for great views. The road along the S coast from Baie do Cap to Souillac is very pretty, with authentic fishing villages. Lots of bars and restaurants in Flic en Flac village and beach road! Look for Kenzi Bar in the little streets behind Jumbo supermarket in F en F.

@Shylo Glad to hear you’re enjoying it! Thanks for your reply, that’s all really helpful. The family is divided between those who want a villa in Blue Bay (more space, better snorkelling) and those who want a nice hotel in Le Morne (pretty beach, good restaurants).

Totally will be hiring a car and exploring the National park and island generally. We love a hike.

PS the lion fish photo caused a collective family intake of breath - the last time we went on a fancy beach holiday, dd took a great photo of a lion fish. Then on the last day I borrowed her camera to take snorkelling while she was at the kids club, didn’t shut the waterproof case properly and killed the camera and lost all photos 😱. She has never forgiven me and lion fish are a touchy subject in the Claptrap household… 😂
