Are your memories from above?

When I'm remembering moments in my past it's as though I'm watching a character in a film, with the camera at a funny angle, and raised, so I'm looking down at myself. Is that normal? How on earth does that work? How does my brain know what things would have looked like from that angle? Why don't I remember things as I experienced them originally through my own eyes? Do you guys know what I'm talking about?

I visualise myself rather than what I would have actually seen I think. I think i read our brains like to create stories so they link moments of memory together to create a narrative.

@Haycorns4Piglet I'm exactly the same! I find it quite difficult to 'picture' things but when I do it's always from above.
