Nasty comments now I'm leaving.

I've worked many yrs where I am and I am working my notice.
I'm leaving due to ill family member and zero worklife balance due to being v short staffed.
Now the sarcastic comments are starting.
Why??
Majority of the staff are genuinely pleased for my new worklife balance and I'm trying to laugh off the sarcasm but a month is a long time.
I am rising above it but why the digs when I've been so very loyal.

Tell them to piss off and mind their own business.

Theskyisfullofbirds · 12/10/2022 15:02

Tell them directly to stop being so rude.

BoredOfLooking · 12/10/2022 15:05

Who is making the sarcastic comments?

whatisforteamum · 12/10/2022 15:06

Maybe I should.
Seriously why the character assassination. 🙄

Potplanta · 12/10/2022 15:07

They're being nasty because they don't need to be nice anymore?

whatisforteamum · 12/10/2022 15:09

The new manager.
Does my new boss know XYZ about me.
Yes he does as I informed him at the interview.

It sounds like she's making veiled threats to our you to your new boss or something. Tell her to back off.

whatisforteamum · 12/10/2022 15:13

Boss is a man just making snide comments for any minor misdemenour.
It is so draining.

OP posts:
girlmom21 · 12/10/2022 15:15

Just say "look, I know you're disappointed that I'm leaving but acting like a child isn't going to make it any better"

Rainbowshine · 12/10/2022 15:24

Your manager is a dick. And a terrible manager. A better manager would be trying to find ways of keeping you through flexible working and so on, and showing regret that you’re going. Be glad to be free of them once you leave!

whatisforteamum · 12/10/2022 15:25

Girlmom21 you are right.
Very childish and showing their true colours.

whatisforteamum · 12/10/2022 15:29

Thank you rainbowshine.
Yes in an industry on it knees you would be glad of an employee doing 12 hour days for yrs.
Us older ones have plenty to give.
Thankfully my new place is much better pay and shift patterns.

The new manager is a bully, since you're leaving can you report it to HR?

EndlessMagpies · 12/10/2022 15:54

"It's that sort of comment that confirms I've made the right decision to leave".

Tessasanderson · 12/10/2022 15:57

Its times like this you find out what people are really like. Personally i dont need friends at work, i go there to earn money. I couldnt give a shit if they like me or not.

You are moving on, remember to be happy, smile and waste not a single thought on these tossers

AnnieEva · 12/10/2022 16:11

I think he’s probably jealous of your new work life balance and better shift patterns. He’s obviously not taking into consideration when he makes these comments that one of your reasons for changing is to care for a sick relative. He’s not a nice person. I think I’d be tempted to question him further next time he makes one of these comments. Make him expand on the comment and explain what he means. Embarrass him..

What truly matters is the other colleagues you’ve known for a long time are supportive of you.

whatisforteamum · 12/10/2022 16:41

Thank you all.
I don't go to work to make friends or socialise with colleagues.
However I'm there v long days.
I will just have to find more comebacks.
I did see my position advertised and have reason to believe the pay is more so I'm not looking and having fun with the colleagues who value me while I'm there. Made the right decision for myself though.
Onwards and upwards.

People are not loyal to you. They are loyal to their need of you. The second that changes frankly they couldn't care less about you.

whatisforteamum · 12/10/2022 18:45

So true.

OP posts:
Elieza · 12/10/2022 18:54

I’d be working my hours only. No staying late any more. If it’s 9-5 I’d be doing exactly that.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 12/10/2022 18:58

Some come backs

What are you going to do about that, sack me?

Sounds like I’m a terrible employee, I would be happy to just walk out now if you don’t want me to work my notice.

saleorbouy · 12/10/2022 19:25

They're only jealous they don't have the freedom or ability to make the decision you have for a better work life balance.
Keep you chin up and enjoy the satisfaction of walking out on your last day.

whatisforteamum · 12/10/2022 20:32

Well said.
I will go home ill next time they take the piss.
I do already have references from previous boss lined up.
Like you say they don't have the finances to leave and would nt understand my reasons.
You have all cheered me up. 😊

Call the behaviour out in front of existing colleagues

Humiliate this person....and leave the rest of the staff wondering about it all

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 12/10/2022 20:39

''Thank you Boss. Comments like that protect me from the sadness of leaving! ''
