Hobbies for DH

Hello everyone - I was hoping for some suggestions. My DH has been struggling a bit with his mental health recently and his therapist has suggested he needs a bit more work-life balance, and a hobby might help. Only problem is he has NO IDEA what he’d like to do 🙈

He’s not massively sporty, not particularly crafty/creative. I think something that gets him out of the house and around other guys would be good, but any ideas you have would be fantastic.

Metal Detecting? There’s clubs.

Is there an Andy's man club in your area?

crochetandacuppa · 12/10/2022 11:46

@LadyHestia Ooh love this. We both love Detectorists so this could be a contender.

Is there a local man’s pie club? They cook pies and talk about mental health.

Or rotary club.

Fishing. Its relaxing its outdoors, its not too expensive. And you could join him too. My dp fishes and I've started too. We are currently in Dorset at a lovely lake with the dog too.

A friend of mine is heavily involved in our local one.

I do Lego (obviously from my user name 🙂).
I belong to a AFOL (Adult Fans of Lego) group who meet up, do model shows, chat online etc.
There are several official AFOL groups around the UK. If interested I could tell you your nearest group depending on where you live.

Fishing is good, my husband loves it and really helps him to relax

Radio controlled sailing.
In the fresh air, but also lots of standing around chatting with other men i breaks between races. A bit of competition. Fab.

What about a course (cooking or something) on a set evening each week?

RedRec · 12/10/2022 13:52

What about one of those men's shed things? They seem to be cropping up everywhere now.
'Community spaces for men to connect, converse and create'.
All the best to him and you, OP.
