Breastfeeding in lingerie - Ella Baig

Does anyone else find this odd that this woman has done this?

For those not wanting to click the link; She’s (Ella Baig - Nicola adams partner) splayed across her bed, breastfeeding her baby in full lingerie. Explaining how she finds it great to be sexy and a mum.

Ive breastfed all my dc until they’re into their 3rd years of life, I love breastfeeding, even as hard as it is, so most publicity re. It is welcome however the sexualising it and so publicly with her child in the picture made me feel incredibly uncomfortable.

I get the want to feel sexy after having a baby, and I get that she wanted to show the world she still can be.. but to publicly wear lingerie to show ‘how sexy she is’ whilst breastfeeding is just something else to me and just another way appease another patriarchal fetish. I don’t have Instagram or tik tok so maybe I’m just out of the loop and this is happening more and everyone is desensitised.

Anyone else get this feeling?

I have never felt less sexy than when breastfeeding.

Youredaft · 11/10/2022 19:07

😂 I mean it’s never the sexiest feeling having an infant hanging off you

I always thought the argument was that breastfeeding isn't sexual and people need to stop looking at it that way in order to normalise it in public etc, but it seems she's just doing the opposite.

Especially when they have teeth!

frozenorangejuice · 11/10/2022 20:00

That is gross. What/who is she doing this for? Seems totally unnecessary and weird to me. I’ve breastfed both of my babies and never did it cross my mind to do so in fancy lingerie. Perish the fucking thought! Uncomfortable nonsense. That sweet little baby just wants a feed and to be close to their mum, not to be made a spectacle of, surely?

Worthyornot · 11/10/2022 20:01

Yuck. She has cheapened breastfeeding. So tacky.

ditalini · 11/10/2022 20:02

Meh, she's an underwear model so I guess it's just the day job for her. I don't think there's anything wrong with the photo if that's what she wants to do with her time.

The sort of boulder holders that I was wearing while breastfeeding likely wouldn't have come under the category "lingerie", but agree that sexy was not something I associated with my boobs when feeding.

ItsStardustBackAgain · 11/10/2022 20:03

Just another example of fetishes being normalised. Breastfeeding is beautiful but it shouldn’t be ‘sexy’ except to creeps. She must know that but has decided to do this anyway, presumably to generate clicks and thus money.

So much wrong with this.

LynneBenfield · 11/10/2022 20:08

She’s not the brightest, is she?

03X · 11/10/2022 20:13

Really odd. From a breastfeeding mum (also into the years). I just don’t get it?! But then again, I’ve never put a breastfeeding photo anywhere and actively wish for people to avert their eyes, I don’t want anyone looking at me thanks!

bingbummy · 11/10/2022 20:19

I put BF pics up, just to normalise things. Never were they sexy. BFing is not sexy. That picture is gross to me, old prude that I am. I wish I was older, I'm only 40 and I'm probably going to witness the full on horror of all this hyper sexualisation of... everything.

MrsMontyD · 11/10/2022 20:24

It's not something I would have done, I find it a bit odd, it's not really the image of breastfeeding I'd want to portray BUT the baby is clean, warm and being fed so I'm not sure I can get worked up about it.

jtaeapa · 11/10/2022 20:28

I can imagine some sicko wanking over that image. I wouldn’t have done it if I was her, but I suppose free country and all, so she can crack on if she wants.

Kentgirl2525 · 11/10/2022 20:30

Sexualising breastfeeding is not ok!!
the photo made me feel uneasy!
why On earth would you want to take such a photo. Screams desperate and attention seeker!

BuffaloCauliflower · 11/10/2022 20:31

Yeh I’m with you. I breastfed DS for 20 months (now pregnant again) and I’m all for not losing yourself in motherhood, but this seems to sexualise breastfeeding when that’s the exact opposite of what we’re trying to do most of the time

SingingSands · 11/10/2022 20:38

To quote her:

“But why can’t we be sexy while being a mum? Do the two have to be separate?"

I think most of us would prefer NOT to have to acknowledge our mums as being sexy whilst they are parenting us though. Be sexy when with your partner, but mixing sexy and parenting together seems wrong.

The internet is forever. Imagine being that baby and finding that image and interview when you're older. 🫣

catandcoffee · 11/10/2022 20:55

She's a fucking disgrace to women who breastfeed.

Honestly she looks like she's posed for playboy.

Why, why, why would you do this to your baby.

minipie · 11/10/2022 20:58

Anything for attention.

Youredaft · 11/10/2022 21:01

Ok. I’m glad it’s not just me then. I always feel on edge when breastfeeding is sexualised, but this was another level, especially as she was actively trying to be sexy while breastfeeding.

The mind boggles at the length ‘influencers’ go to.

You could've warned me the link was the sun - I wish I hadn't have clicked it!

As for your actual argument- yanbu. Breastfeeding isn't and nor does it need to be sexy.

Somethingsnappy · 11/10/2022 21:17

I don't like the baby being used as a prop there either, to promote herself, whatever else she claims she's trying to do.

Navigatingnewwaters · 11/10/2022 21:17

Its bizarre, of course you can be sexy as a mother but breastfeeding is the wrong platform, it should not be sexualised.
