Hello!
Has anybody recently applied through CICA for compensation? Specifically for historic child sexual assault not reported until later in life but I would be interested to hear from anyone in general around current timescales and processes and if you have been successful/unsuccessful

Me… for my 12 year old daughter who was abused between ages 4-8 by her father. How can I help? 💐 AMA!
We’ve been successful in that there will be a payout but we’re not sure how much (possibly 5-8k). It’s a slow process. I applied about 9 months ago and we’re waiting on the final outcome.
Her payment will be held until she’s 18, so there’s no mad rush on our end.
If you have a clinical diagnosis from a psychiatrist, that’s very useful. Any medical records that might flag the abuse is also useful (DD’s records didn’t have anything in her notes to prove the abuse and her father was a GP himself, so care was withheld by him- he knew the system and made sure she didn’t access care/prevented me from seeking help when I couldn’t understand our daughter’s behaviour. But she has been under the care of a psychiatrist since disclosure and her dad’s now in prison so…).
Let me know what you need help with. Happy to assist!

Wow @TheVanguardSix how utterly awful for your daughter and yourself. I hope you are both doing much better now and so pleased you got justice Flowers best wishes to your daughter for her recovery.
What was the process like for you, did you have to give much information yourself or did the police hand most stuff over? And how long did it take for them to come back with a decision? I appreciate every case is different however a year at best as their website states seems such a long time to be in limbo!
