Keep your Amazon return receipts!

Ordered a small item from Amazon in August, wrong colour arrived so I sent it back and got a refund. Thought no more about it until last week when I got a mail from Amazon stating that the returned item never arrived, so they would be charging me for it again - which they did, yesterday.
I managed to find the return receipt in the depths of my handbag and checked the DHL tracking number, which said the item had been delivered in August.
Just contacted Amazon via chat and have been assured that I will now be refunded again and not charged again.
Wasn't asked for tracking number so I presume they just believed me - but what if it had been a more expensive item?
Will definitely be taking better care of return receipts from now on.

This isn't surprising, you can get loads of things for free from Amazon. If you want a refund on something you've bought then you just contact them via chat and make up a reason for not wanting it and most of the time they just tell you to keep the item and still refund you (obviously not if it's expensive or a large item).

I thought this, but sometimes they can be bloody awkward.

I rarely return, and I daren't think how much I spend, so when the £8 extending hose I'd bought sprung several leaks after 4 months I thought it would be a case of 'sorry, here is your £8, bin it'.

I sent photos and a video of it leaking. They asked for it back. Pointed out it was a pretty damp hose as it had been in use. Nope, still wanted it back. In the end I think we whacked it in a plastic garden bag, stuck a label on and hoped for the best, but whoever got to process it at the other end would have had damp feet. Madness I thought but hey ho.
