Give me your best team building day ideas (please?!)

Am trying to organise a team building day. Morale is terrible, and we really need something.

I don't want to do the usual "getting to know you" games and building paper towers, I'd like to do something actually fun.

We are a group of about 30, ranging in age from 30s to mid 60s (but fairly active). Both men and women. Budget not enormous and would need to include lunch. Thinking around 10am to 4pm. South Wales if that helps.

Please give me some ideas! What was the best team building day you have attended?

To me this depends why morale is low in the first place. Few years ago team morale was low in my job because management weren't doing their jobs properly and a rift was being formed between the people who worked hard and the lazy people who took the piss and got leeway from the manager because she was also lazy and didn't enjoy managing people. It was awful, morale was super low and the atmosphere was horrible in the office.

If we'd been forced on some sort of team building day under those circumstances it may well have ended in a huge row because there was so much resentment bubbling under the surface. Forced fun with people you don't like is not fun!

That said, my favourite one I've ever been on was go-carting followed by a meal out.
