If you are short and pear shaped what style of jeans do you wear?

I’m struggling with my wardrobe at the moment, gained a bit of weight not much but enough that I feel conscious of it. Already lost some so working on it but I hate all my jeans suddenly!
I’ve got some skinnies but they’ve never fit me properly I have to roll them up, and I currently live in two pairs of Mom jeans but I’m not sure they’re very flattering.

help me find the perfect jeans?

I am 5'3 and chunky round the bum/thigh area - I have gone back to some bootcut and flared jeans, though I do like a 70's look! I have also recently got a couple of pairs of wide leg jeans that I wear with chunky boots (to lift the hem off the ground!) and I think they are reasonably flattering.

I’m a similar shape and I’ve stopped wearing skinny jeans as they just don’t seem that interesting anymore. Wearing a mix of cropped, mum-jeans, long flared styles at the moment.

For me, I think it’s whether the jeans fit well that matters rather than the particular style meaning that they are tight where they’re supposed to be tight and loose where they’re meant to be loose. So not too saggy around the waist & bum (unless that’s the style) and also the length needs to be just right - if they’re too long they don’t fall right. If you’re long & lean then most things look good on you but with curves I think you do have to try a bit harder to make sure the fit is good. But after that, then I’ll wear any style.

I always used to try to look longer and leaner in jeans when I was younger (long bootcut styles with huge heels) but I wasn’t always comfortable, much prefer wearing trainers nowadays and don’t think I was ever really fooling anyone anyway 😂
Now I just embrace my pear shape and wear any jeans I like.

Also in terms of brands, by far the best jeans for me are Paige but they are super expensive at full-price (got some in sales & outlet sites previously) but I’ve had success with FatFace and Whistles recently too. I always need to try on loads of sizes and styles though to find ones I like

Bootcut or flared looked great on pear shaped bottoms

BogRollBOGOF · 11/10/2022 09:16

I always liked boot cut best as they balance out the lower half and taper on the slimmer zones of my legs. I'm currently on straight leg (which look slightly boot cut by the time I fill them out) as that's what was around last time I needed jeans.

I have got skinnies because that's all I could buy for years. I have pleasing muscular curves but they do want to go slouching down my thighs and gather at my knees.

The biggest problem with jeans is that by the time I buy them to clear my thighs and butt, they're always several inches too large on the waist (especially as I need a high waist to store the CS overhang in)

Definitely bootcut - as pps say the extra width round the ankle balances the extra round the hips. As a '70s teenager used to flares I can remember first trying on a pair of narrow legged trousers and being horrified at how enormous my size 10 bottom suddenly appeared. Still bought them though like a fashion conscious fool! Now I just wear what suits me.

I'm 5'2, size 14 and pear or hour glass shaped and have recently bought these. Very happy with both:

I'm 5'5'' and a size 14-16 and wear skinny Levi's

Thank you for
the suggestions. I’ll try on some flared ones although I always feel a bit trussed up in the high waisted ones and am unsure what shoes to wear with flared jeans these days!
