Stored clothes smell...

Just swapped my summer/winter clothes and lots of the winter clothes that were stored have a musty, cheesy smell...
How can I prevent this? Do lavender sachets really work?!

I'd just wash them again. And keep them in a breathable bag in a dry, cool place next time.

Boak at "cheesy". Ugh.

Store in airtight vacuum bags. Mine smell of fabric conditioner when I get them out of storage.

Definitely airtight vacuum bags. They come out exactly as they went in.

Airtight plastic bags smell weird too

I store my out of season stuff in large cardboard boxes. Make sure things are properly dry before you box them up. Drawer liners or scented sachets can be nice, but I've never bothered.

Thanks all! Have ordered some vacuum-pack storage bags.

I agree, it will still have a little bit of a smell but not too much. Mine were in storage maybe 2 years so more than your seasonal clothes will be. And they had a faint smell but not enough to warrant a full wash. They were just layed out for a couple of hours. The sun will be your best friend if he's out 😉
