2yo DS and I made pumpkin pie, but we opted out of turkey dinner for slow-cooker butter chicken because I'm due any day now and couldn't be bothered to do a roast. My mom is coming in a week and a half though, so definitely thankful for that!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Are you both in the UK? Is your thanksgiving similar to the US one?

Andylion · 10/10/2022 17:33

I will going over to my sister’s in a bit. I hope there will be pumpkin pie.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

@BoredOfLooking I'm in Canada. I think its pretty much the same as US Thanksgiving. big turkey dinner, pumpkin pie. I imagine some of the food & traditions change depending on state/ region

@MooseBreath Butter chicken sounds great. I just do the prep work & leave the cooking to the Mr. It's a beautiful day here so I'll take the kids and dog out for a good walk & get home when it's all ready

I'd love a slice of pumpkin pie. I wished everyone in the office today a Happy Thanksgiving and got a stiff ignoring in return.

Onesailwait · 10/10/2022 19:16

@LadySlipper Happy Thanksgiving to you

So what is THE definitive recipe for pumpkin pie, one that I can make in the UK with what we have available here?

LadySlipper · 10/10/2022 19:46

@Onesailwait thank you!

MooseBreath · 10/10/2022 20:41

@BoredOfLooking I am in the UK. I use this recipe - I buy pumpkin puree off Amazon because making my own puree always winds up tasting really weak!

Everything else I bought in Sainsbury's.

Thank you for that, except I didn’t know it has eggs, I’m allergic 🤦‍♀️. Are they necessary? It’s not like a cake, is it? Can I just leave them out and have it more dense than it ought to be do you think?

MooseBreath · 10/10/2022 21:34

@BoredOfLooking I am honestly the worst baker in the entire world and have no idea! I don't know what eggs bring to the recipe other than small shards of eggshell that DS mixed in...

Sorry I can't be of any assistance!

MissConductUS · 10/10/2022 21:43

Try it without the eggs. I've used this recipe and it came out very nicely.

I'm A Yank, so Thanksgiving for me is a few weeks from now.
