How do I activate my balance on Vinted?

I finally made my first sale on Vinted a couple of days ago! I dropped off the parcel at a shop this morning (not an Inpost locker - I already switched off that option). The amount I sold it for is showing as a pending balance.

There's something on the Vinted website saying I need to "activate" my balance within five days, otherwise they'll cancel the order, but I can't work out what it is that I'm supposed to do? I already filled in the page with my name, date of birth and address a few weeks ago, but apparently they might ask me for ID but they haven't? I can't work out if I've done what I'm supposed to do, or if something else is supposed to happen?

Usually it will be released once the customer has it and is happy.

Okay but apparently there's some KYC thing that happens the first time?

I think it might be in your settings, I can't remember though, best to go through or try googling it. You'll find it somewhere there!

Here's what it says:

To sell on Vinted, you’ll have to activate your Vinted Balance by entering your full name, birth date and address. MangoPay, which provides Vinted Balance, needs these details to activate it.

You’ll also have to confirm Mangopay’s Terms and Conditions. Once your balance is activated, you’ll become MangoPay’s client and user of their payment services.

If you don’t verify your Vinted Balance in advance, please do so within 5 working days of your first sale, before you send the sold item. Otherwise, we’ll have to cancel your order, unfortunately.

You can send the sold item as soon as your Vinted Balance is active. You will receive your earnings in your Vinted Balance once the order is completed. Then, use that money to buy on Vinted, or withdraw it to your bank account.

I've already entered my name, dob and address a few weeks ago, so does that mean it's already activated? It doesn't say exactly, and I haven't been asked for a passport or anything but it says on another page that they'd be asking me? I'm confused.

How have you sent the item?
You need to show proof for some things, so if you've sent Royal Mail go into the conversation with the buyer, click shipping instructions and click 'sent'

If InPost etc upload a photo, I tend to just screenshot the email confirming the item is in the locker.

Other carriers just photograph and upload a photo of the receipt, it should mark it as sent.

Royal Mail (blanked out convos etc)
Click shipping Instructions, the box with buyers address appears, Mark as Shipped.

I sent it by Evri, by dropping off the parcel at a shop.

Ok, do you have an option in the chat to upload your proof of postage? If so, pop a photo of the receipt in there.
With Evri etc it should pick it up in the system and update anyway, but best to add the photo if you can.

Okay but that's not what I'm talking about. There's stuff on Vinted saying that I need to "activate my balance" the first time I sell something, and that if I don't do so within five days of the sale then they'll cancel the sale?

How exactly do I know if my account itself has been "activated"?

And apparently the first time I do it, Vinted will ask me for KYC stuff like a passport? But they haven't asked me for one, that's why I don't know if my account/balance is activated or not.

Profile > Balance > Activate?

What does it ask you to input in that section?

tectonicplates · 10/10/2022 16:52

There's no activate button and nothing to add. It already has all my details. Do most people get asked for photo ID or on't a few people?

Sounds like it's already activated. I don't think you'd have been able to send the parcel if it wasn't activated.

Novella12 · 10/10/2022 16:58

I didn't get asked for photo id

AmuckAmuckAmuck · 10/10/2022 17:00

It does sound like it's activated if you're able to upload and sell.

As for ID, I honestly can't recall if I uploaded anything or not, it was a long time ago.
