Strange parcel-wrong address?

A bit of a first world problem.

I’ve received a parcel with my name and address on it. Didn’t think I had ordered anything so thought it was a bit odd. It is a very thin jacket that seems to be for cycling.

They aren’t particularly cheap when I look online so someone is missing it somewhere.

I have no idea how it has ended up coming to me! There is a return address on it,should I just post it back to them (at a cost of £2.85-says on the label)? Or should I try to contact them somehow to see what has happened?

I have ordered some shoes on Vinted but I don’t think it is a mix up with them.

Any ideas?

Can you track the parcel on Vinted just to check it doesn't say delivered? Just to be certain. Other than that I would check your bank/if you have an account with the company it's come from as may be fraudulent activity

Twizbe · 10/10/2022 13:29

Look at the brand and find customer services for that brand through their website.

Don't send it back. It could be a scam and if you send it back they claim they never got it and you stole it etc. could well be a fake as well.

Check with the brand if it's a genuine order and the let them deal with it.

So I’ve now discovered that it is the shoes from vinted. Well clearly it isn’t because it is a jacket but…

The vinted seller got the shoes picked up by Royal Mail so I think they’ve stuck the wrong stickers on the parcels.

Any ideas how to fix this? Anyone know Royal Mail complaints procedures?

It's up to the seller to sort this out not you.

asitwere · 10/10/2022 17:02

Why is it a Royal Mail complaint?

JustAPony · 10/10/2022 17:59

Because Royal Mail put the wrong stickers on the wrong parcels.

I know it is up to the seller but I’ve got this jacket here that belongs to someone, and I think that person has my shoes!

Doesn't the seller put the name and address on the parcel?

girlmom21 · 10/10/2022 18:04

Simplest solution is seller gives you the other persons address and the cost of postage

theclockticksslowly · 10/10/2022 18:05

There was a thread exactly like this a few weeks back (obv not shoes and a jacket but different items off vinted/eBay). The poster contacted the seller who confirmed with other buyer that they had received the wrong item - it was then sorted out amongst themselves I think. It would be for the seller to contact Royal Mail so contact the seller and get them to sort it.

maximist · 10/10/2022 18:49

I did this once with two similar books, I sent both buyers the others address (with their consent of course) and the cost of postage, and they sent them to each other. Obviously I apologised prolifically as well.

JustAPony · 10/10/2022 19:16

But the jacket didn’t come from them. Royal Mail have stuck the wrong address on after collecting another parcel from someone else!
I’ll see what the seller is able to to at their end.
Thanks!

I would go to your local post office and ask their advice.
Does the jacket have a return receipt eith it or does it look like an ebay / vinted parcel. I sell a lot on vinted and I know the post office do the labels. If it is a vinted parcel then I would contact them if you can as the person awaiting the coat and has your shoes may have also contacted them.

girlmom21 · 10/10/2022 20:02

So the vinted seller is telling you that Royal Mail put the wrong label on your parcel and also collected another vinted parcel from someone else at the same time and stuck the wrong label on that too? That sounds very unlikely.

Had she not handwritten your name and address?

JustAPony · 10/10/2022 21:18

Thank you for this. It doesn’t say vinted or anything on it,seems to be Royal Mail printed.
I’ll pop in to the post office and see what they say.

It does seem unlikely I know, but it seems to have happened!
The address is a printed sticky label so seems to be from Royal Mail themselves.

If all else fails just put a pic on Facebook of the jacket and ask if anyone is expecting it, will attract a nation wide search and then you will get your shoes 😁

Choccyoclocky · 10/10/2022 21:29

There is a Facebook page for lost or wrong vinted parcels! There has been loads of problems lately.

BumblelionBum · 10/10/2022 21:37

It could be my Vinted parcel 😂 I have been waiting 5 weeks for a Blue Sweaty Betty running jacket.

TurtleTriplets · 10/10/2022 22:05

I just need to see if the jacket belongs to @BumblelionBum Shock

Goingforplatinum · 10/10/2022 22:27

Add a pic so @BumblelionBum can see if it's hers

AmuckAmuckAmuck · 10/10/2022 23:17

If you book a Royal Mail parcel collection you can opt for the no print service where rm bring the label with them and stick it to the parcel when collected.

sounds like they have collected and applied the wrong label.
