Sold expensive item on vinted

Evening all. I am fairly experienced at selling on vinted but my normal prices are between £1 & £25. I have just sold an expensive item, £250. We had quite a few messages batting between us until we agreed a price. The buyer has no reviews. He admitted to being totally new to vinted although lack of reviews were obvious! I am sending the item by special delivery, Royal Mail. Do I have any cause for concern? Anything else I can do to cover myself? Just doing bedtime so may not be able to come back for an hour. Would appreciate your thoughts on this.

Signed and recorded delivery

It sounds over the top but I would do a video of the item showing it’s in good condition, being packaged up and then weighed on scales. That way they cannot argue what you’ve sent doesn’t match as delivery should also have weight on. I’d also read about someone making a note of distinctive marks or making their own distinctive mark somewhere hidden so that the item cannot be swapped for a fake/broken item when/if returned!

Thank you. This is really good advice. I am going to do exactly what you have suggested. I was toying with the idea of videoing it anyway but making notes of the weight is a great idea thank you.

I've sold expensive stuff before online and I've read lots of scams albeit I'm not on vinted. Now I record myself packing it and sealing it at home, then getting it sent off. I've read that scammers say that they paid for x and y arrived and if theyve paid via paypal they tend to side with the buyer

Sadly though, most platforms like Vinted won't care about this! Is it an item which can be faked/swapped? Did the buyer select Royal Mail as a postage option? Make sure you send whatever way they've selected!
