Bugs in my bed, Not bedbugs.. I feel ill.

Moved into a flat, When it was empty when I first moved in I cleaned all through, then decorated, then bought furniture, new carpets all through. I had a wodden framed bed, Got rid of that about three months ago and got a fabric divan and headboard.

Started painting my bedroom today (only room that still needed decorating) I pulled my mattress (new three months ago) off the bed and underneath was full of little brown bugs, Looked online and they look exactly the same as carpet beetles. I'm talking there was about 50 of them. Moved my headboard and the back of that was covered in them as well, As was the divan base where the mattress had been. I'm not itchy and have no marks on my body so thinking they are more likely carpet beetles than bedbugs?

I have never had whatever they are before, The entire place was clean and freshly painted etc. I used the hose from my hoover to get rid of them all, Finished up, Went back in half an hour later and there was a few crawling up my wall next to my headboard.

I change my bedding once a week and pull my bed out and hoover also once a week.

Anyone have any idea what to do? How did I get them in the first place? I feel so dirty all of a sudden and feel a bit ill because I had been sleeping on that.

Carpet bugs don't do any harm, just find out how best to deter them from returning OP.

If you rent the flat I would pass the issue to landlord. Well done you for pulling the bed out weekly to hoover. I cannot manage to do that very often!

Ugh no, reading this is making me feel itchy just the thought of all those bugs 😬

I would get an exterminator out, sounds like some sort of infestation. And I think bed bug rashes don’t always show straight away… But I’m not 100% sure so don’t quote me on that 🤔

Is it a wool carpet? Can you manage to take a photo of the bugs so you can identify them for certain?
