I've never been a tutor before, but I got past the first interview stage! I've trained a lot in a previous role and know the basics of Adult Learning Theory. I'd be a counsellor for students as part of the role too. I have to give them an example of my teaching (write a presentation) but I am not sure what else the interview will involve. I really want to get my foot on the teaching ladder so to speak, and they'll train me to qualified level.

Have you any interview experiences, tips, stories to share with mumsnet?

Thank you

Be aware of their safeguarding policies and procedures - we always ask this in our interviews.

I’m a therapist so appreciate it might be different but I’d expect to talk in an interview about how I’d manage duel relationships.

Does the college do group process (again, not sure if counsellors do this) but I’d expect to talk
about that.

How you manage when a student isn’t cut out for it?
