Have you tried it? And did it help your condition/concern?

I found it helpful, but I think you have to be careful about choosing a good practitioner. I did quite a lot of research before selecting the person I saw, and I believe there is quite a lot of variability in experience levels and expertise, and this will be reflected in the price too.

teaandcats I have been looking and there doesn’t seem to be many acupuncturists in my area although I have found one who was recommended by several people on my local FB group. She trained for 8 years. She is a little bit more expensive than the others but does appear to have more experience so I will probably go with her.
Did you have to have many sessions?

I found it worked very quickly, but I suspect acupuncture is more effective for certain conditions and less effective for others, and it probably depends on how bad the problem is (chronic vs new etc).

Also I have to say, I felt amazing after each session with loads of energy, and found it lasted all day. Worth it just for that imo

Yep, changed my life within about 8/10 sessions and I've never needed to go back. I bloody loved it!

That’s really good to learn CanYouFeelMyHeart, I am really hoping it could help me.
teaandcats Some of my issues are very long standing and chronic. I’ve had anxiety all my life, IBS for 20+ years and absolutely nothing I try that is either suggested by other suffers or the NHS helps. I also have gynae issues and now in perimenopause.
I really am hoping acupuncture may help ease some of the discomfort which comes from all of these things?

Did you go for it @Septemberintherain? I'm just back from my second session. It's really helping me. Mine is a long standing problem.

Used it after three miscarriages. Did it for about 2 months, had my first successful pregnancy after. So definitely worth it for me

I have it every 8 weeks for chronic pain and wouldn't be without it now . I had 10 sessions on the NHS and was sceptical until about 3 weeks after they finished then I realised how much better I'd been feeling. I then went and found a very experienced practitioner locally and have never looked back . Nobody was more dismissive of it than I was when it was suggested to me but it truly would be in the top three things I couldn't manage without now.

That's fantastic so happy for you ❤️

Yes, on the NHS for TMD (jaw and facial pain). It did nothing for me personally, I found it painful.

I was told going into it that it seems to be a degree of pot luck, some patients found it life changing and others got no relief at all. I wouldn't rule out trying it for another issue at all if I felt inclined, but my personal experience of it for the issue I tried it for was that it was a waste of time and actively unpleasant.

Have you tried an osteopath for that? I had tmj and an osteopath helped me immensely. No one else could help. I wouldn't have used acupuncture for it tbh. I have total sympathy it's awful 😢
