I just need a day off

I’m not sure why I’m posting, really. I am feeling really overwhelmed. DP and I both work full time and I am feeling like I can’t cope with work and housework at the moment. He just doesn’t see anything that needs to be done. If I ask him (a few times) he will take out the bins, change the sheets etc. But nothing gets done unless I ask him to do it. If I come home from work (he wfh) there will be dirty dishes, bins overflowing, vacuuming to do.
It’s not the chores that are the problem, it’s the having to think about it. We need to do food shopping and wash uniforms today but he won’t even think of it. I just want to mentally have a day off but I know it will be just double the work the next day if I do.

Sit down together and go through everything once. Basically make ongoing to do lists for the house. Each evening, together, you power through it for 20/30 minutes tops and then sit down together.

Or similarly follow a plan like The Organised Mum Method.

He won’t ‘think’ to do it because he knows you will.
