I have a guest who I was hoping to take to London and I've seen they caused chaos today around the areas I want to go like Trafalgar Square?

I did try and google it but unfortunately to no avail.

If you are travelling by public transport then I don’t think it’ll be an issue for you. It’s only a few people causing trouble by blocking roads.

Trafalgar square is closed off for a Diwali event
Buses are on diversion

It was actually quiet today- train strike I assume

I was out and about for most of the day- lots of minor protests (different groups) but no real disruption at all

TheRubyRedshoes · 08/10/2022 21:18

We are hoping to drive in.

But where does this stuff get published?
I'd absolutely hate for our poor guests to get mixed up on this.

@ChipsforMe

I was hoping to walk through it and perhaps pop into the national gallery.

You can walk around the edge of Trafalgar Square
As I said it was very quiet today.

ChipsforMe · 08/10/2022 21:31

The road is only closed between the top of Whitehall and the end of Pall Mall- just caused a massive diversion for a few hundred feet

soundsystem · 08/10/2022 21:45

You saw who caused chaos today? As a PP said, today was the Diwali celebrations in Trafalgar Square, not a protest?!

N4ish · 08/10/2022 21:51

You’ll be fine walking to the gallery! Where are you seeing this information about chaos in Central London?

It doesn’t, they want to keep it a surprise to avoid the police acting preemptively.

Even if driving in, you’ll be fine. Amongst all the shit going on on London’s roads this really isn’t an issue.

If you have a large car such as a Range Rover of course you could drive over them a few times as your civic duty.

There were quite a few small protests today (which is pretty typical). But not a march which does impact on the traffic.
Some kind of running/walking race?

soundsystem · 08/10/2022 22:03

Fair enough! I was in Central today and obviously completely oblivious to any chaos! Actually thought it was nice and quiet because of the train strikes!

So did I
It was quiet
(I live in Central London)

There wasnt any chaos
There were some road closures due to the Diwali closure
Some minor protests

Lots of NFL fans (who knew cheese hats were a thing)
Quite a lot of overseas scouts

@PrincessButtercupToo

Unfortunately not,no. Small flimsy car.
Apparently they chucked milk into Selfridge's and fortnums etc.
